On March 15-16, Facebook users known for frequently spreading disinformation, Nona Sharabidze and Davit Jebashvili, as well as a Russian-language Facebook page, published a photo, which they claimed depicts Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The circulated images show an injured man being pulled from rubble.
In posts shared by Nona Sharabidze and the Russian-language Facebook page, a second photo also appears, in which the injured Benjamin Netanyahu is allegedly visible.

AI-generated images of Benjamin Netanyahu are being circulated on Facebook. The use of artificial intelligence is confirmed by several visual inconsistencies, as well as by detection tools.

Visual inconsistencies indicate that the circulated images were generated using artificial intelligence. For example, the injuries and bruises visible on Netanyahu’s face appear unnatural. The image looks overly “smooth,” and the dust seen on the Prime Minister’s face appears artificial. In addition, Netanyahu is shown wearing a jacket, but the fabric in the area where rescuers are holding him differs from the section where the buttons are attached.

Similar flaws appear in the second image as well – the visuals again look unnatural and overly “smooth.” The hand of the soldier on the right blends into the black background and partially disappears.

The photos were checked using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. According to the results, the probability that the images were generated by artificial intelligence is 98% and 99%.
At the same time, the tool AI or Not also indicates that the images are likely AI-generated.

A reverse image search of the photos published on Facebook found that no reputable media outlets have reported these images. There is no information in open sources about Benjamin Netanyahu being injured.
After unverified claims circulated in Iranian sources suggesting that Benjamin Netanyahu might have been dead or injured, on March 15 the Israeli Prime Minister published a video showing himself drinking coffee in a café and speaking with his assistant.
