Sony has rolled out PS5 system software update version 25.07-12.20.00 for October 2025, and it’s a pretty useful firmware update. Weighing over 1GB, the update makes it easy for players to check serial numbers of their PS5 consoles and DualSense controllers.

There’s no PS4 or PS Portal system update accompanying today’s PS5 update, even though usability improvements are typically rolled out across all devices simultaneously.
Speaking of Portal, the handheld hasn’t received a system update since Jun,e even though further improvements are long overdue. Additionally, PS Portal’s direct cloud streaming function has been in beta for quite some time now, but there’s no word from Sony regarding a full rollout.
