TG Metals (ASX:TG6) has lodged a mining lease application for the Burmeister lithium deposit as part of the company’s plan to develop the Lake Johnston Project in Western Australia.
The deposit was previously modelled from wide spaced drilling to produce an exploration target of between 15.6 million tonnes and 20.1 million tonnes @ 0.97-1.19% lithium oxide.
The company has defined multiple pathways to production for the deposit. These include direct shipping ore (DSO) opportunities from simple crushing and ore sorting onsite at Lake Johnston, with the project being located close to infrastructure including the Esperance Port.
Previous metallurgical testwork indicates a product grading above 1.5% lithium oxide DSO is achievable using simple ore sorting methods.
The company intends to conduct additional drilling at the Burmeister deposit to advance the DSO opportunity.
CEO David Selfe says the company intends to take advantage of “improved conditions” in the lithium market with its wholly owned Burmeister deposit.
“The mining lease application encompasses the Burmeister deposit and planned infrastructure that sets the company on course for the potential early establishment of a DSO operation,” Selfe says.
“Metallurgical testwork and the shallow nature of the Burmeister pegmatites support the potential for a high-grade and low-capital DSO development pathway at Lake Johnston.
“The development of Burmeister will occur in parallel with our primary focus of getting Van Uden gold heap leach development to first production.”
As reported by Mining.com.au, TG Metals was granted approval for drilling at the Van Uden Gold Project in Western Australia last week (28 May).
Drilling will focus on laterite targets outside the existing mineral resource estimate (MRE), testing extension of the surface laterite gold resource outlined in the estimate.
The Van Uden MRE has 56% in the indicated category, with a total of 7.93 million tonnes @ 1.06 grams per tonne gold for 270,800 ounces.
TG Metals is a Western Australian exploration and development company focused on the advancement of the Lake Johnson and Van Uden Projects.
