Sony Interactive Entertainment has released PS5 system software update 26.01-12.70.00 for users to download, but don’t get too excited – it’s another one of those stability improvement patches.

Sony announced recently during its latest financial briefing that the PS5 has now shipped 92.2 million units worldwide since its release in November 2020. The console launched during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, during a point where major regions were under strict lockdown, and as such stock was hard to come by. PS5 suffered from major shortages due to manufacturing component issues brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak, which took nearly two years to normalise.
