TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — AMD Taiwan donated 31 AI laptops to Tainan’s education bureau to support robotics, AI, programming, and other technology courses, the city government said Thursday.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) thanked the company for supporting local tech education and helping the city improve its AI learning environment. Huang also thanked AMD Chair Lisa Su (蘇姿丰), who was born in Tainan, for supporting education in her hometown.
Liberty Times reported that the laptops will be placed at Tainan’s AI learning center to support robotics, AI applications, programming, and other hands-on tech courses. The education bureau said the laptops will also help students with coding, simulation tests, data analysis, and debugging as the city works with companies to improve smart learning resources.
Huang also said AI tools can help teachers respond to students’ different learning speeds and needs. He said such tools can provide faster and more varied support, improving learning efficiency and teaching quality.
Education Bureau Commissioner Cheng Hsin-hui (鄭新輝) said Tainan began a medium-term robotics education plan in 2024. The plan covers curriculum development, teacher training, equipment support, and student competitions, per UDN.
Cheng said robotics education will now include more AI-related skills. These include image recognition, data analysis, AI model use, and programming.
