Netflix’s lineup of new movies in July includes entertaining sequels, riveting documentaries, and tons of star power. The streamer is releasing the third installment in its popular Enola Holmes franchise on July 1. The movie marks the return of Millie Bobby Brown as the youngest sleuth in an iconic literary family.
One of Netflix’s most heartfelt TV shows has opted to wrap up its story with a movie instead of another season. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart returns to Netflix with a new comedy movie toward the end of the month. The final two picks on this list are documentaries, one of Netflix’s most popular genres. In Enola Holmes 3, Enola is set to marry Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) in Malta. As Tewkesbury waits at the altar, Enola is seen rushing to the church when she’s stopped by Dr. Watson (Himesh Patel), a friend of Sherlock (Henry Cavill). Watson reveals that Sherlock has gone missing, which isn’t what you want to hear on your wedding day. The ensuing adventure is lighthearted fun for viewers of all ages, making Enola Holmes the perfect family movie to watch over the holiday weekend.

Cruise ship tragedies seem to be a popular subject for Netflix documentaries. Cruise-based docs like Trainwreck: Poop Cruise and Amy Bradley Is Missing found sizable audiences on the streamer. Let’s see if Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea follows the same pattern.
In 2012, the Costa Concordia cruise ship with over 4,000 people journeyed around the Mediterranean Sea. The ship veers off course to perform a sail-by salute — a maneuver where the ship gets close to land, so the passengers can wave to the people. The maneuver ended in tragedy when the ship hit a rock, capsized on its side, and partially sank. The informative documentary features interviews with survivors and unseen footage from that fateful cruise. I’m expecting this addictive movie to debut in Netflix’s top 10 in the U.S.
Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea begins streaming on July 10.
Heartstopper means a great deal to many viewers. The earnest series about the relationship between Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) has been one of Netflix’s best depictions of young love. Its messages of hope and inclusion remain as relevant today as they did when the show first premiered in 2022.
Instead of a fourth season, Heartstopper will conclude with a movie, Heartstopper Forever. Nick and Charlie are thriving as a couple, but they have to transition to a long-distance relationship with Nick leaving for university. That creates a new set of challenges. As a comfort show, I’m expecting the same love and care to shine through in the film.

A Toxic Love Story begins like many Netflix true crime documentaries. It starts with a new relationship between a man and a woman. After a few weeks, the man proposes to his new girlfriend. Everything seemed to be fine until the girlfriend began receiving threatening emails from a mysterious figure named “Lilithistruth.”
The prime suspect is the husband’s ex, who was arrested. But there’s much more to this story. The authorities revisit the case and unearth a scandal where they don’t know who to believe. Who is the victim, and who is the perpetrator? A Toxic Love Story seems so unbelievable that it feels like something written by a Hollywood screenwriter. It’s time to put on your detective hat and determine what happened in this wild tale.

It’s been a huge year for Kevin Hart and his partnership with Netflix. In March, Hart hosted the stand-up comedy competition Funny AF, where he searched for the next great comic. In May, Hart was the subject of The Roast of Kevin Hart, hosted by Shane Gillis. Additionally, Hart now stars in the new Netflix comedy 72 Hours.
40-year-old Joe (Hart) is an aging executive who needs to rediscover his youth. Joe is accidentally added to a group chat with four 20-somethings (Marcello Hernández, Mason Gooding, Kam Patterson, and Ben Marshall) planning a three-day bachelor party. Joe accepts the invitation, and it leads to a weekend of debauchery, filled with yachts, women, and parties. It’s time to see if Hart can still hang with the young bucks.
72 Hours premieres on July 24.
