Tiger Shroff Firing Case: What Happened on October 18
Tiger Shroff was leaving after a football match in Juhu at around 7 pm on Sunday when shots were fired at his BMW, according to National Herald. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said five rounds were fired.
The actor escaped with minor injuries. Reports say he had abrasions and gunpowder burns on his right hand, and was treated at Nanavati Hospital and discharged. Two others were not as lucky. His driver was hit in the left hand, and an autorickshaw driver passing by was shot in the chest. Hospital updates at the time described the autorickshaw driver as stable.
Police said the attackers came on a motorcycle and fled towards Andheri West, where the bike was later found abandoned. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and asked for a quick investigation, and around 15 police teams were put on the case.
How the Surat Gun Recovery Fits In
For most of the week, the weapons were the missing piece. Early reports said no guns had been recovered from the three alleged shooters. At the scene, police had found five empty shells and two live cartridges, which reports linked to one of the guns jamming.
Police sources quoted in the reports say the pistols were hidden in Surat while the accused were trying to get away. The three alleged shooters were caught on a train by Kota city police in Rajasthan on Monday. Reports say they were heading towards Nepal through Surat, Jaipur and Delhi.
Officials have not said exactly where in Surat the weapons were found, or who had them. The ballistic test is the key next step. If the guns match the shells from Juhu, that will be strong physical evidence linking the weapons to the attack.
10 Arrests: Who Has Been Held So Far
Police identified the three alleged shooters as Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan alias Sukka and Phool Singh, both from Sonipat in Haryana. Mumbai Police confirmed that none of the three is a minor. A Mumbai court remanded them to the custody of the police’s Anti-Extortion Cell until October 31.
The Delhi Police Special Cell then arrested four people it accuses of arranging and delivering the weapon. The Week reported that a pistol and 20 rounds were bought in Amritsar, Punjab. Two young women were allegedly paid ₹12,000 each to carry the bag by train from New Delhi to Mumbai, reaching Dadar on October 17. Police say the shooters were later put up in Andheri and kept changing where they stayed.
The most recent three arrests, reported by NewsX, are Ankit alias Sarpanch Rajesh Khatak (18), Sameer Hasan Khatri (19) and Jatin Krishan Panchal (27), all reportedly from Haryana. These are allegations only. None of them has been tested in court.
The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Angle
Soon after the firing, social media posts attributed to Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, described in reports as operatives of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility. The posts also threatened people in the film industry linked to Salman Khan.
According to The Week, one of the accused, Kunal, told police the group acted on Anil Pandit’s instructions. Pandit is listed as a wanted accused. Police said in the first days that the motive was still unclear and they have not officially confirmed gang involvement. Investigators are examining a possible wider conspiracy across several states.
For Mumbai, the case brings back uncomfortable memories. In April 2024, shots were fired outside Salman Khan’s Bandra home, and police in that case also recovered pistols in Surat, from the Tapi river. The two cases are separate, but the Surat link and the gang claims have drawn comparisons.
What We Don’t Know Yet
- Whether the Surat guns match the shells from the Juhu crime scene. Ballistic results are pending.
- Why Tiger Shroff’s car was targeted. Police have not announced a motive.
- Whether Anil Pandit, the wanted accused, has been traced.
- The latest health update on the injured driver and autorickshaw driver.
Why This Case Matters for Mumbai
Juhu is one of the city’s busiest residential areas, and reports say the firing happened near a school and a playground. An autorickshaw driver who had nothing to do with the film world took a bullet in the chest. That is what makes this more than a celebrity story.
Eknath Shinde has asked film personalities to report any threatening calls to the police instead of handling them privately. If you or someone you know gets an extortion or threat call, the simplest step is to note the number and time and report it to the local police station or dial 112.
