Ramayana Advance Booking Crosses ₹10 Crore: Hindi Shows Lead the Rush

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana hasn’t shown a single frame in theatres yet, but ticket counters are already busy. The film’s advance bookings in India have now crossed the ₹10 crore gross mark, and the film is still more than a week away from release.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ramayana: Part 1 had sold about 1.81 lakh tickets across 4,339 shows in India by Saturday afternoon (October 24), adding up to ₹10.14 crore gross. Bookings opened on Dussehra, October 20, and Nitesh Tiwari’s film opens worldwide on November 5.

Quick Facts

  • Film: Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari
  • Cast: Ranbir Kapoor (Rama), Sai Pallavi (Sita), Yash (Ravana), Sunny Deol (Hanuman), Ravie Dubey (Lakshman)
  • Release date: November 5, 2026, worldwide, including IMAX
  • Languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam
  • Advance booking (India): ₹10.14 crore gross, ₹7.96 crore without blocked seats (Sacnilk, Oct 24)
  • Tickets sold: around 1.81 lakh
  • Top market: Delhi-NCR, at ₹2.13 crore

Ramayana Advance Booking: How the Numbers Grew

The first day was the loudest. Within roughly 24 hours of bookings opening on Dussehra, early reports citing Sacnilk put the film close to ₹5 crore, and The Week reported ₹5.97 crore for opening day by October 21, including block seats.

Since then the pace has settled into a steady climb. On Saturday morning alone, the film added about ₹34 lakh in a few hours. That is normal for a film this far from release. Most families book closer to the weekend, and many theatres haven’t opened all their shows yet.

One detail matters if you follow box office numbers closely: “block seats”. These are tickets held in bulk, sometimes by fan clubs, corporates or distributors. Without them, the tally drops to ₹7.96 crore, which is the cleaner picture of what regular moviegoers have paid for so far.

Hindi Leads, Delhi and Mumbai on Top

The Hindi version is doing almost all the heavy lifting. Sacnilk data shows Hindi shows account for about ₹8.89 crore, or 88% of the gross. Kannada comes next at around ₹96 lakh, which makes sense given Yash’s huge fan base in Karnataka after the KGF films.

City-wise, the top five look like this:

  1. Delhi-NCR: ₹2.13 crore
  2. Mumbai: ₹1.60 crore
  3. Bengaluru: ₹1.20 crore
  4. Hyderabad: about ₹62 lakh
  5. Pune: about ₹46 lakh

Ticket prices have also grabbed attention. Several outlets, including The Indian Express and India Today, reported that premium recliner seats in Mumbai touched ₹2,770. That’s a big ask for a family of four, so expect plenty of people to stick to regular seats.

Overseas Buzz and Bengal’s Tax-Free Move

Abroad, the film started even faster. The Times of India reported that overseas pre-sales crossed USD 1 million as bookings opened, with North America a key market. Sony Pictures is handling the international release.

Back home, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced at a Dussehra event in Kolkata on October 20 that Ramayana will be tax-free in the state. A tax-free status usually means the state waives its share of tax on tickets, which can make them a little cheaper for viewers there. Kolkata is currently sixth among cities for advance sales, at about ₹42 lakh.

Ramayana vs Dhurandhar 2: Is It Slower?

Not every comparison is flattering. Hindustan Times reported that while Ramayana has sold over 1 lakh tickets, its pace is about four times slower than Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, which set a pre-sales record for a Bollywood film earlier this year. Koimoi has also suggested Ramayana may fall short of that day-one pre-sales record.

Timing could explain part of the gap. Ramayana opened bookings on Dussehra, more than two weeks before release, which spreads demand over many days instead of packing it into a short burst. The real test will be the last few days before November 5, when most casual viewers book.

Why This Film Is Such a Big Deal

Ramayana is planned as a two-part adaptation of the epic, produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The music is by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, a pairing that alone has film fans curious. Part 2 is planned for Diwali 2027.

It also arrives with some history. A recent big-screen take on the epic, Adipurush (2023), faced heavy criticism over its visuals and dialogues. Many viewers are watching to see if this version gets it right.

What We Don’t Know Yet

  • Whether paid previews will run on November 4. Some reports mention them for India and North America, but the makers have not formally confirmed them.
  • The film’s official budget and runtime have not been confirmed by the makers.
  • Advance booking figures come from trade trackers and change hourly. Final opening-day numbers can look very different.

What This Means for You

  • Book early for the first weekend if you want good seats in Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, where demand is highest.
  • Check regular formats: premium recliners are pricey, but standard seats at the same multiplex cost far less.
  • In West Bengal? Watch for lower prices once the tax-free status is applied at your theatre.
  • Pick your language: the film releases in five languages, so non-Hindi shows may have easier availability.

Our Take

₹10 crore before release is a strong start, but it’s not a record, and that’s fine. A mythological epic aimed at families tends to grow by word of mouth rather than a first-day fan rush. If early reviews are kind, Ramayana could have a long run through November. If they aren’t, these pre-sales will be remembered as the peak.
