Star Trek fans, rejoice! It’s time to slingshot around the sun once again. One of the franchise's most beloved big-screen adventures is heading back to UK cinemas this September, with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home returning to the big screen to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Better still, the rerelease comes with a gorgeous brand-new poster from artist Matt Ferguson. Take a look at the new artwork for the whale-saving classic:
This latest piece joins Ferguson's celebrated series of posters for the earlier original-cast films. And it's fitting that The Voyage Home gets the anniversary treatment too. Directed by Leonard Nimoy, the fourth Trek film remains one of the series' most crowd-pleasing outings, swapping galaxy-spanning battles for a time-travelling mission to 1986 San Francisco, where Admiral Kirk and company discover that navigating late-20th-century Earth can be just as alien as exploring deep space. Between punk rockers, pizza, exact-change buses and a pair of humpback whales, it's easy to see why the fish out of water film remains one of the franchise's most beloved entries.
The anniversary arrives during a landmark year for the franchise. Not only does The Voyage Home turn 40, but 2026 also marks 60 years since the creation of Star Trek, with celebrations taking place throughout the year before culminating in Star Trek Day on 8 September.
Whether you're revisiting one of the original crew's finest adventures or introducing someone to the film for the very first time, this is one voyage well worth taking.
