While we’re still enjoying everything 2026 has to offer, Netflix’s long-term production cycles mean we already have a fantastic idea of what to expect next year. 2027 is shaping up to be an absolute behemoth for the streaming giant—marking a year of monumental series finales, massive new adaptations, and the biggest cinematic rollout in Netflix’s history.
Please note: This list is a live article and a work-in-progress article. Release dates and production schedules are highly subject to change and this relies on some educated guess work. Bookmark this page, as we’ll be updating it constantly as more titles are announced! We next plan to update it in September 2026!
Here is everything confirmed (and/or heavily expected based on production timelines) to hit Netflix in 2027 so far:
Director: Greta Gerwig
Cast: Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell
Release Date: February 12th, 2027 (Theaters/IMAX) | April 2nd, 2027 (Netflix)
After years of development, Netflix’s mega-budget reboot of C.S. Lewis’s beloved fantasy franchise is finally arriving. Directed and written by Barbie’s Greta Gerwig, the franchise is kicking off chronologically with The Magician’s Nephew. Netflix is giving this one an unprecedented global IMAX rollout in February before it hits the platform in April. This is easily Netflix’s most anticipated movie of the decade.
Status: Confirmed for 2027
Directors: Jared Stern and Elaine Bogan
Cast: Taika Waititi, Kit Connor
Charlie Vs The Chocolate Factory
Netflix’s massive acquisition of the Dahl catalog is bearing some wildly creative fruit, and this upcoming animated feature might be the most unhinged project of the bunch. Produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Imageworks (the brilliant minds behind the Spider-Verse films), this movie acts as a modern-day sequel with a heist twist.
The story follows Willy Wonka (voiced by Oscar-winning Taika Waititi), who is freshly out of prison after serving time for that whole “turning a child into a blueberry” incident. Returning to his factory to bring sweetness back to modern-day London, he clashes with a brand-new protagonist: a teenager named Charlie Paley (voiced by Heartstopper’s Kit Connor). Facing eviction, Charlie and his “rotten” crew of friends plot to break into the iconic factory to steal a priceless Wonka bar and save their homes.
Status: Expected 2027 (Predicted Summer 2027)

Netflix has made a massive strategic shift with some of its biggest hits, purposefully holding the return of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday until 2027. After dominating the streaming charts in previous years, this spaced-out release strategy ensures Nevermore Academy’s favorite goth has the spotlight entirely to herself next year.
Status: Confirmed 2027 (Predicted Summer 2027)
Set sail for Alabasta! After the massive success of the live-action anime adaptation’s sophomore outing, Season 3 is slated for 2027. This season will cover the fan-favorite Arabasta Saga, promising an epic desert showdown between Monkey D. Luffy and the sinister Crocodile.
Status: Expected 2027
Unlike One Piece, Netflix’s live-action Avatar was renewed for two additional seasons right off the bat, giving the creators the runway to finish Aang’s story properly. Season 3 will conclude the epic saga as Aang finally faces the Fire Lord.
Status: Confirmed 2027
Dearest Gentle Reader, you didn’t think the ton would rest, did you? Bridgerton’s fifth season is expected to arrive in 2027, and showrunners have confirmed it will focus on the highly anticipated love story of Francesca and Michaela.
Status: Confirmed 2027
Fans of Holly Jackson’s gripping YA thriller novels can rejoice—and grieve. Netflix confirmed that Emma Myers will return as Pip Fitz-Amobi for a four-episode final season adapting the third book, As Good as Dead. The cast secretly shot Season 3 back-to-back with Season 2, meaning this dark, traumatizing conclusion is already in the can and locked in for next year.
Status: Expected 2027
Netflix has been quietly brewing an adaptation of Ubisoft’s flagship video game franchise for years. While details have been kept heavily under wraps, 2027 is currently looking like the year we’ll finally take the leap of faith into this live-action historical sci-fi universe. (Also keep an eye out for updates on Netflix’s massive adaptations of Gears of War and BioShock, which are ramping up development!)
Status: Expected 2027
Showrunners: Josh Appelbaum & Scott Rosenberg
Cast: Mckenna Grace, Tanner Hagen, Abby Ryder Fortson, Maxwell Jenkins, Paul Walter Hauser, and Frank WelkerBehind The Scenes Scooby Doo Origins Jinkies! Netflix is teaming up with Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for the very first live-action Scooby-Doo television series—and it’s taking us right back to where it all began.
Pitched as a modern, live-action reimagining of the beloved Mystery Inc. gang, Scooby-Doo: Origins will follow the iconic teens during their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears. Longtime friends Shaggy (Tanner Hagen) and Daphne (Mckenna Grace) get swept up in a haunting mystery involving a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Teaming up with the pragmatic townie Velma (Abby Ryder Fortson) and the ever-so-handsome new kid Freddy (Maxwell Jenkins), the gang will have to face down a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their deepest secrets.
With an eight-episode first season currently filming in Atlanta, an amazing young cast, and the novelty of utilizing a real-life puppy for Scooby (rather than CGI), this origin story is easily one of Netflix’s most buzzed-about new shows for 2027.

Our favorite Emmy-winning adult animated series is returning! Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai shifts the bloody quest for vengeance out of Japan and into Edo-era London. Mizu will face down new friends, old foes, and her own demons, while Akemi and Taigen navigate a dangerous new Shogun back home. While an exact date isn’t set, Netflix recently showcased the new season at the Annecy Animation Festival, hinting at a 2027 release.
Status: Confirmed for 2027
Ghostbusters: Night Shift – Cr: Sony Pictures Animation ©2026
Announced at the latest Annecy festival, this official, canon entry into the Ghostbusters universe takes us back to the 1990s. Using a uniquely expressive animated style, the series follows a scrappy group of barely trained heroes using makeshift tech to tackle brand new paranormal terrors.
Status: Confirmed for February 2027
Studio: WIT Studio (Attack on Titan, Spy x Family)
Netflix is officially doubling down on the Grand Line! While we eagerly await the return of the live-action series, Netflix is delivering another massive treat for Straw Hat fans with The One Piece—a brand-new, top-to-bottom anime remake of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga.
Slated to drop in February 2027, this highly anticipated series is being produced by the powerhouse animation team at WIT Studio. Starting from the very beginning with the East Blue Saga, this remake promises to deliver a fresh, modern take on Luffy’s earliest adventures with cutting-edge animation and significantly streamlined pacing (meaning far less filler than the original 1999 broadcast). Whether you’re a long-time fan looking to experience the magic all over again or a newcomer who felt too intimidated by the original anime’s 1,100+ episode count, this February release is gearing up to be a monumental television event.
