Divers from the Maine Warden Service recovered the body of Todd Bradeen, 51, of Standish, on Friday morning after he drowned while paddleboarding on Lower Range Pond in Poland Thursday afternoon.
Officials said Bradeen’s body was found in water approximately 30 feet deep and 200 feet from shore.
According to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, his remains were pulled from the pond around 8 a.m. Friday.
His body was located earlier in the morning using a sonar-equipped boat and an underwater drone.
Bradeen left from the beach at Range Pond State Park when friends and family saw him fall off the paddleboard.
Bradeen did not have his leg attached with the tether rope to the paddleboard and was not wearing a personal flotation device, the MDIFW stated in a news release.
Investigators said the wind pushed the paddleboard away from Bradeen, and after attempting to swim and catch up to it, he eventually went underwater and did not resurface.
Maine Game Wardens are urging all boaters and those enjoying Maine’s waterways to know their abilities, wear a flotation device, and be safe on the water.
