Significant blow to Project Tango as Zoning Commission denies application – WPBF

The Palm Beach County Zoning Commission voted unanimously today to deny the zoning application for Project Tango, a proposed data center near the Arden community in western Palm Beach County.
Residents attending the meeting cheered as commissioners announced their votes.
The vote does not necessarily mean the end of Project Tango. The Zoning Commission serves as an advisory body that considers proposed applications and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners, which has the final say. The next step for the project is a hearing for the Board of County Commissioners on July 15.
The proposed data center has sparked months of debate over its proximity to homes and a school, as well as concerns about noise, water usage and power consumption.
The 202-acre property is owned by multiple entities, including PBA Holdings, which owns 127 acres; WPB Logistics Owners LLC, which owns 60 acres; and the Central Park Commerce Center’s Property Owners Association, which owns the remaining 15 acres. The projected power demand for the site is 600 megawatts.
