Playoff hopefuls clash over Fourth of July weekend, with the Houston Astros welcoming the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday in the opener of a three-game series. 
The Rays enter the holiday as one of MLB’s hottest teams, the first in the American League to reach 50 wins. Between their strong play of late and the Yankees’ seven-game skid, they have expanded their AL East lead and will be looking for more this weekend.
