Iran’s New Supreme Leader Absent from His Wife’s Funeral – IranWire

The funeral procession for Zahra Hadad-Adel, the wife of Mojtaba Khamenei and daughter of Gholam-Ali Hadad-Adel, the former speaker of the Iranian parliament, was held on Wednesday, July 1. According to published reports and photographs, Mojtaba Khamenei was conspicuously absent from the ceremony. Zahra Hadad-Adel was killed during the February 27 strike by the United States and Israel on the residence of Ali Khamenei.
Iranian media outlets published images of the funeral service, which reportedly took place at Farhang High School and was attended by her father. The Farhang school network was originally established by Gholam-Ali Hadad-Adel. Zahra Hadad-Adel, born in 1979, was a teacher at the Tehran girls’ branch and held a degree in communication sciences with a concentration in journalism from Allameh Tabataba’i University.
Mojtaba Khamenei was selected by the Assembly of Experts as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic shortly after the death of Ali Khamenei. However, since that time, he has made no physical appearances at any ceremonies or public events, while his supporters have issued only a few written statements.
Following the death of Ali Khamenei, reports circulated that Mojtaba had been injured in the strikes, with varying accounts estimating his injuries from minor wounds to amputation. To date, no new photographs or videos of him have been released, even from private circles.
