Mumbai, July 1: Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric Mobility and Vedanta Oil & Gas were the most actively traded stocks on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday as investors reacted to a series of company-specific developments. Reliance Power surged after announcing plans to expand into artificial intelligence (AI) and allied technologies, Vodafone Idea extended gains on improving subscriber additions and Nifty rebalancing-related buying, Ola Electric advanced after reporting a sharp quarter-on-quarter recovery in electric scooter registrations, while newly listed Vedanta Oil & Gas hit the 20% upper circuit on strong investor demand following its market debut.
Reliance Power share price surged on Wednesday after the company unveiled plans to expand into the fast-growing artificial intelligence (AI) and allied new-age technology space through its subsidiaries.
The stock emerged among the top gainers on the broader market. The stock has gained about 13% over the past week.
The rally followed an exchange filing in which Reliance Power said it has initiated enabling steps through its subsidiaries to participate in AI and other emerging technology businesses.
While the company stopped short of announcing specific investments, partnerships or timelines, the move signals a strategic shift beyond its conventional power generation business. The company said it intends to explore opportunities in AI and allied technologies as demand for digital infrastructure accelerates globally.
The announcement marks one of Reliance Power’s most significant diversification initiatives in recent years and comes as companies across sectors seek to tap opportunities created by the AI boom.
Vodafone Idea share price extended gains on Wednesday after rising the day before and ending over 2% higher in the previous session, supported by Nifty index rebalancing-related buying during the final half hour of Tuesday’s trade. Investor sentiment was also buoyed by improving operational performance, with the telecom operator posting net subscriber additions for the fourth consecutive month.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Vodafone Idea added 1.21 lakh wireless subscribers in May, more than doubling the 53,257 users added in April, signalling a steady recovery in subscriber traction. The stock has climbed 3.6% over the past week.
Ola Electric Mobility share price climbed 3% on Wednesday after the company reported a strong sequential recovery in electric two-wheeler registrations for the June quarter, raising hopes that demand and execution are improving after a challenging few months.
According to VAHAN data, the company registered 43,719 electric scooters in Q1 FY27, almost doubling from 22,252 units in the March quarter. June registrations stood at 16,144 units, marking the strongest monthly performance of the quarter and signalling sustained momentum in retail demand.
Vedanta Oil & Gas share price surged 19.98% to hit the upper circuit on Wednesday, with investors cheering its standalone listing and exposure to India’s upstream energy sector. The sharp rally reflected robust demand for the newly listed stock as investors bet on its growth prospects amid the country’s rising oil and gas production ambitions. The near-20% gain also made Vedanta Oil & Gas one of the top-performing stocks of the session. The stock has risen over 12% over a week.
