HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — India Home is expanding its services on Long Island with the opening of a new senior center in Hicksville, offering culturally tailored programs and support for South Asian and Indo-Caribbean older adults.
The new center, located at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Jerusalem Ave., will operate every Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will provide opportunities for socialization, wellness activities, educational programs, cultural celebrations and access to community resources.
According to India Home, the Hicksville center was established in response to the growing need for culturally familiar services among Long Island’s South Asian senior population. Many older adults face challenges such as social isolation, transportation difficulties and language barriers that can limit access to traditional senior services.
The organization said the new center is designed to provide a welcoming environment where seniors can build friendships, remain physically and socially active, and stay connected to their cultural heritage and community.
The center was established with support from the Association of Indians in America-National, Guru Krupa Foundation and the New York Community Trust.
To mark the opening, India Home will host an inaugural celebration on Tuesday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hicksville center. Community members, families, supporters and local leaders are invited to attend and learn about the programs and services available to seniors in Nassau County and surrounding communities.
