The Early Edition crew discuss the latest reports surrounding Jaylen Brown
NBA free agency begins at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 30, and it’ll be fascinating to see how the Boston Celtics decide to bolster their roster for the 2026-27 season.
Much of the focus on the Celtics involves the future of Jaylen Brown. The superstar wing has been the subject of many trade rumors in recent weeks.
But the Brown situation isn’t the only Celtics storyline worth following.
They have the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception (around $15 million) to use in free agency. They also have a very large $27.7 million traded player exception (TPE) from the Anfernee Simons trade in February to use.
The Celtics need to upgrade their frontcourt this offseason, and using the MLE and TPE are two effective avenues to accomplish that objective.
