TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Representative to Israel Li Ya-ping (李雅萍) told an international policy forum in Jerusalem that the two sides are natural partners, CNA reported Friday.
The International Policy Summit, organized by the US-based Jewish News Syndicate, was held from Sunday to Tuesday and featured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, industry leaders, and scholars, per CNA. Taiwan’s representative office was invited to participate for the first time.
Li sat on a panel discussing Israel-Asia relations, where she described Taiwan and Israel as “geopolitical mirrors.” She noted that both face security pressures but have turned challenges into drivers of innovation and resilience.
Li said the two sides are complementary in technology, with Israel serving as a global innovation hub and Taiwan as a key center for high-tech manufacturing. She added that cooperation in AI and chip industries could support broader reindustrialization efforts in Europe and the US.
She also highlighted expanding people-to-people exchanges and joint remembrance initiatives, noting that Israeli visits to Taiwan have risen sharply in recent years.
