JACKSON COUNTY, Texas – Three former Jackson County Herald-Tribune staffers are starting a new local news outlet with a simple mission: keeping news in Jackson County, by Jackson County.
Millie Diaz, Jessica Coleman and Michael Brooks started Jackson County Homegrown News. They say after working at the Herald-Tribune, they wanted to keep doing what they love: covering local people, local issues and the stories that matter to their neighbors.
“We are not here to copy the Herald-Tribune. We are here to cover certain topics that people in our community worry about. There are certain things that are on their minds that are not being covered. We want to do more investigative reporting and get information out to the people so they know what is going on out here,” said Diaz.
