Report: Person claims to have video of Nancy Guthrie with kidnappers, demands Bitcoin to release it – WRAL

A person claiming to know who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie in February is now claiming to have video of Guthrie with her kidnapper, according to a report.
TMZ said they received an email from a person who claimed to know who took the mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie, and that they had video of the “main guy” and Nancy from the day she died.

The person told TMZ “I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone. What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter, a short video of the main guy with Nancy the day that was probably her last, pictures of both involved, names and addresses and age.”
The person also said there was more than one person involved in Nancy’s kidnapping, and told TMZ they would give them the password and location of the phone for one Bitcoin.
TMZ said they reported the letter they received to the FBI.
Earlier this week, Savannah spoke tearfully about a ransom note related to the months-long disappearance of her mother, saying the 84-year-old had died.
CNN and other news organizations first reported details about the second note on Monday, citing law enforcement sources.
Nancy was reported missing on February 1. Early morning that day, her doorbell camera detected movement outside her home in Tuscon. Shortly afterwards, her pacemaker app disconnected from her phone.
Volunteers and search teams scoured the nearby desert terrain filled with cactuses, bushes and boulders in the weeks after she vanished. A volunteer group recently conducted a search for her body near the Arizona-Mexico border but didn’t report finding her.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation combed over several leads and even released photos of the person they believed kidnapped Nancy that morning. Some news outlets had previously reported receiving ransom notes tied to the case in the days after Guthrie’s disappearance.
CNN said it knew the contents of one such note, and that a Tucson TV station had received two notes.
CNN and the station agreed to hold off on sharing the contents of the notes publicly so any future communications with the kidnapper or kidnappers could be authenticated, CNN reported.
The TODAY show host pleaded for anyone with information to call the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
“No matter how small, the reward is there. Please, do the right thing for us, for our family, for our children,” she said.
