Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (June 15, 2026) arrived in Slovakia becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country. Speaking during the exchange of MoUs and joint press statements with Slovakia PM Robert Fico in Bratislava, Mr. Modi said “India and Slovakia decided to elevate ties to status of Comprehensive Partnership.”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the U.S.-Iran deal a “historic step towards peace” on Monday (June 15, 2026) following weeks of his government mediating between the warring sides. “Today, the world has seen a historic step towards peace. After the darkness of war, the sun of peace has risen,” Mr. Sharif told Pakistani lawmakers after earlier announcing the deal would be signed in Geneva on June 19.
The Supreme Court on Monday (June 15, 2026) stayed further proceedings before four High Courts hearing challenges to the constitutional validity of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, while issuing notice on the Union government’s plea seeking transfer of all pending cases to the apex court to prevent conflicting decisions on the law.
The iconic “Dancing Girl” of Mohenjo Daro, a 4,500-year-old bronze figurine that has featured in Indian school textbooks for decades, appears to have been altered in a newly released Class 9 art education textbook published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The figurine, is depicted in a darker shade in the new textbook, with parts of the torso covered compared to its original form.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the SIR campaign at his native Raikala village in Keonjhar district, filling out his enumeration form. “The enumeration forms have been distributed to more than 3.30 crore voters as on June 14 evening, taking the total coverage ratio to 98.95%,” said an official at the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha. A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck off the southern Philippines on Monday (June 15, 2026), the United States Geological Survey said, a week after a deadly quake in the same region killed at least 65 people. The quake hit off the coast of Mindanao island at 5:18 p.m. (0918 GMT) at a depth of 112 km (69.5 miles), the USGS reported. No tsunami warning has been issued.
Celebrated Patna-based tutor and social media influencer Faisal Khan, better known as Khan Sir, was on Monday (June 15, 2026) accused by his rival Raushan Anand of having orchestrated the “murder” of his brother Prince Yadav, who has died under mysterious circumstances in Nepal. Mr. Anand made the sensational claim soon after being released on bail in connection with the vandalism that took place at one of the coaching centres run by Mr. Khan earlier this month.
A day after 20 Lok Sabha MPs of the Trinamool Congress decided to merge with a little known Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), the party in a social media post claimed that it has become the largest parliamentary force in West Bengal. “With 20 Lok Sabha seats, NCPI emerges as the largest parliamentary force from West Bengal shaping the state’s voice at the national level. The numbers speak for themselves…” a Facebook post by the NCPI claimed.
Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Kolkata on Monday (June 15, 2026) in connection with the alleged school jobs scam case, an official said. This came a day after he was questioned by the West Bengal CID in the alleged forgery of TMC MLAs’ signatures on documents related to the appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.
Russia fired hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles at Ukraine’s biggest cities in a nighttime bombardment that killed at least 11 people and set fire to a renowned religious site, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other officials said Monday (June 15, 2026). The attacks on the capital, Kyiv, and the second-largest city, Kharkiv, came after Mr. Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke separately by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday (June 14, 2026).
Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday (June 15, 2026) urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C.
