New Hampshire families looking for an inexpensive way to spend time together this summer may want to check out the area’s movie theaters.
Several national and regional theater chains are bringing back summer discount movie programs — with tickets starting as low as $1 for select family-friendly films. Most programs are offered on weekday mornings or early afternoons, and participating locations, showtimes, taxes, and fees may vary.
Here are some of the summer movie deals available in 2026 and where to take advantage of them:
Regal’s Summer Movie Express runs from now through Aug. 13 at more than 380 participating theaters nationwide.
The chain is showing two PG-rated movies at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with tickets priced at $1.
Regal has a location at the Fox Run Mall in Newington.
The lineup includes movies such as “Sing,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “The Wild Robot,” “A Minecraft Movie,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” “Dog Man,” “Despicable Me 4,” “The Sandlot,” and “Muppet Treasure Island.”
Regal is also offering $3 off a Snack Pack or Dippin’ Dots ice cream with the purchase of a Summer Movie Express ticket. A portion of admission proceeds benefits Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse offers family-friendly movies for $1.75 per ticket, plus applicable taxes.
Participating theaters are hosting screenings on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Aug. 6, with select theaters offering additional showtimes during the week.
Cinemark has a location at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem.
Cinemark’s lineup includes “Paddington,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “KPOP Demon Hunters Sing-Along,” “Shrek Forever After,” “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” “A Minecraft Movie,” “Dog Man,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Bad Guys 2,” and “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie.”
The chain is also offering $1 off snack packs and popcorn-and-drink combos during Summer Movie Clubhouse showtimes.
Indie moviehouses are also trying to help movie fans and families save some money and get out to see flicks.
Barry Scharmett, whose family has owned the Milford Drive-In since the 1960s, said they show first-run movies at $35 a car for up to six people. The drive-in plays two movies. With a full carload, that is less than $3 per person. Business, he said, was good at the drive-in so long as the movies were good and it did not rain.
Red River Theatres in Concord is running a $5 member ticket special on Mondays for summer movies. Otherwise, pricing is normal, Samuel Doyon, the director of operations, said.
Al Coburn at Chunky’s in Manchester said the theatre will be offering $5 movie admissions on Tuesdays throughout the summer.
