Over the last five years, the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally changed the way we think about education, careers, and workforce development. 
Preparing young people for the future can no longer begin when they graduate from high school or enter college.
The development of tomorrow’s workforce must begin much earlier — during the critical K–middle school years when curiosity, creativity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities are being formed.
For generations, workforce development was viewed primarily as training someone for a specific job or career.
Today, because of AI and emerging technologies, that definition has expanded. The jobs our children will have in the next 10 to 20 years may not even exist today.
Success will not simply depend on memorizing information or learning one specific technical skill — it will depend on developing a set of STEAM Superpowers that can transfer across hundreds of future careers.

That is why the Urban League of Essex County’s Tech House Summer STEAM Camp is so important.
This six-week experience gives 11, 12, and 13-year-old scholars early exposure to the skills, tools, and mindset needed to thrive in the AI economy.
Students will not simply sit in front of screens — they will create, design, build, experiment, and discover.

A child introduced to coding at 12 may become tomorrow’s AI engineer.
A child learning 3D design today may become tomorrow’s inventor.
A child learning filmmaking may become tomorrow’s digital creator, entrepreneur, or storyteller.
