UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle that crashed into Pine Creek on Monday night has died, WTAE’s news partners at the Trib reported.

The man died after being taken to the hospital. His name has not been released.

PREVIOUS STORY: One person was taken to the hospital after a vehicle crashed and overturned in Pine Creek in Etna on Monday night.
Allegheny County dispatchers told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that crews were called to Dewey and Crescent streets around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a crash.
A photo from the scene showed officials removing the vehicle. The scene was clear by 9 p.m.
Dispatchers said one person was taken to the hospital.
“It was upside down. They had a strap connected to each tire, and they lifted it right up, up, set it down on the road so they could roll it over and put it on a flatbed,” Milt Reighert said.
Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 is working to learn more about what led to the incident.

The sight was all too familiar to Etna residents. Just last year, on June 8, 2025, they saw the same thing. On that day, the car landed upright, and firefighters said two people were able to escape through the sunroof.
Residents say this happening two years in a row makes them nervous for people driving this stretch, and they say borough or county officials should commission a traffic study to make the road safer.
“I’m scared for my child and my wife driving. That’s scary. That’s not something that should be happening here. People need to slow down and put their phones down. You’re not supposed to make a left turn, but they do it anyway,” Greg Zyhowski said.
