Interestingly, there won’t be separate South remakes in other languages as the Malayalam version of ‘Drishyam 3’ will be released alongside dubbed versions of Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada on May 21, 2026
The Hindi version of "Drishyam 3" will feature a different story track and screenplay compared to the Malayalam original for the first time. While both films sprout from the same basic conceptual roots created by original helmer Jeethu Joseph, the makers of the Hindi version have officially confirmed that the upcoming third entry, starring Ajay Devgn, will deviate significantly to cater to the sensibilities of Hindi-speaking audiences.
The third Hindi version is directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak.
In a statement to PTI, writer-director Abhishek Pathak said, "Both the stories of ‘Drishyam 3’ in Malayalam and Hindi are going to flow differently. The Malayalam version shifts into an emotional family drama, while the Hindi version will be a drama-thriller. It will be fun to see both versions and notice the changes in them."
Interestingly, this time there won’t be separate South remakes in other languages as the Malayalam version will be released as a single version with dubbed versions of Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada on May 21, 2026.
Since the specific industries chose not to opt for a remake, the makers decided to capitalise on the massive nationwide brand value of the franchise by directly pushing the original version, led by Mohanlal, into these markets.
Recently, Telugu superstar Venkatesh Daggubati, who played Rambabu in "Drushyam" and "Drushyam 2", revealed that he will not reprise his role, marking an end to the Telugu adaptation track.
In Tamil, a remake was already highly unlikely, as "Drishyam 2" was never remade in Tamil with Kamal Haasan, primarily because the first part, "Papanasam", ended conclusively with the protagonist confessing to the crime.
As for Kannada, despite initial rumours regarding Ravichandran’s "Drishya" series, the team has formally ditched the remake model in favour of the direct Kannada-dubbed theatrical release.
The "Drishyam 3" Hindi version will be out on October 2, 2026.
