The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the Ministry of Interior’s announcement on Friday, June 19, 2026, of the launch of the new “Civil Affairs” digital application for the General Directorate of Civil Affairs.
This application, which provides a range of digital services such as appointment booking, document verification via an integrated barcode reader, and the submission and tracking of complaints electronically, is an extension of the “Your Voice Has Been Heard” application launched by the Ministry on December 21, 2025, which is dedicated to inquiries about travel bans and monitoring the status of detainees. While appreciating this step, the Syrian Future Movement recalls that these efforts are a continuation of previous promises, as the Ministry announced in September 2025 its intention to fully digitize civil registry services by March 2026.
The Syrian Future Movement commends the Ministry of Interior’s efforts in launching this application, which contributes to facilitating citizens’ access to essential civil services and reduces their need to frequently visit government offices.
We see this step as embodying the vision of a “New Syria” in adopting modern technology to improve government performance and enhance transparency and efficiency.
We also note that this application is part of the digital transformation adopted by the Syrian government, which aims to build an integrated government system capable of meeting citizens’ needs quickly, accurately, and securely.
The Syrian Future Movement points out that automating administrative services contributes to reducing human intervention, thus minimizing opportunities for the corruption and nepotism that prevailed under the former regime.
We emphasize that the suffering of citizens from bureaucracy and administrative complexities was one of the most prominent manifestations of corruption that Syrians faced for decades.
Making services available through an electronic application is a step in the right direction to restore trust between citizens and the state and promote the principle of equal opportunity in accessing services.
