Since Takaaki Nakagami’s pole position at the 2020 Teruel Grand Prix, held at the Aragon circuit, no Japanese driver had started from the front of the grid. In the Czech Republic, however, Ai Ogura ended the wait for his compatriots by securing his first pole position in the premier class. His lap time of 1:51.139 also allowed him to break the circuit record set by Pecco Bagnaia in Q2 last year.
In excellent form since the start of the weekend, the 2024 Moto2 world champion had already finished Friday in first place. This pole position for the Trackhouse Aprilia rider allows Noale to outpace Ducati on the grid, while Marco Bezzecchi (4th) was beaten by Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati – 2nd) and Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati – 3rd). From the perspective of the final Q2 standings, the two Italians appear to be the best representatives of Borgo Panigale this weekend, but Marc Márquez is far from finished. The Brazilian rider secures the 6th fastest time on his Honda, the best result of his career in the series. MotoGP in Q2. Saturday morning was less than ideal for Jorge Martín, who qualified only 10th on the grid. This result is all the more regrettable as he will have to serve a double Long Lap penalty in Sunday’s race for causing an accident involving four other competitors during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
French fabio quartararo finished 5th in Q1, and will therefore start the Sprint (this Saturday at 3pm) and the race (Sunday at 2pm), from 15th position on the starting grid.
