New York state has begun mailing out STAR property tax credit checks to 3 million residents across the state, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.
Homeowners who are eligible and registered for the program will receive their check before the deadline for their school taxes.
This means an extra $350 to $600 in their pockets, while seniors will see anywhere from $700 to $1,500. 
"The start of summer is also the start of STAR tax relief season for millions of New Yorkers," Hochul said. "From tax credits and energy rebates to our expanded child tax credit and middle class tax cuts, we’re continuing to put more money back in New Yorkers’ pockets."
The upstate breakdown is:
Check deliveries will continue statewide throughout this summer and fall.
However, residents in areas with school tax due dates in late June and July, like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, can expect to receive their checks soon.
