On June 2, in an article titled Breaking News: Illinois Hires Ohio Univ. Head Coach & Former Fighting Illini Great Jenna Hall as Head Softball Coach, we reported Hall had told her players earlier in the day that she would be leaving.
The announcement of her hiring came later that day.
Today, we found out who will replace Hall as the new head coach: it is Paige McMenemy, who has been the head coach at Div. II Tiffin University, and the hiring was announced to the Ohio University team members earlier today.
MeMenamy has ties to the G-MAC program as her younger sister and current Assistant Coach Megan (McMenemy) Bammann played at OU for a season after playing four years at Ohio State.
In her one year at Ohio Univ., Megan earned 2nd Team All-MAC honors after batting .309 with five home runs and 20 RBIs.
The new Bobcats coach said in the school’s release earlier this morning:
“I am honored and excited to accept the opportunity to become the next Head Softball Coach at Ohio University,” McMenemy said.
“I would like to thank Director of Athletics Slade Larscheid, the search committee, and university leadership for their trust and confidence in me.”
“Ohio is a special place with a rich tradition, passionate support, and a strong commitment to student-athlete success. I am excited to build relationships with our student athletes, alumni, and supporters as we work together to pursue championships and continue elevating Ohio Softball.”
“I cannot wait to get to Athens and begin working alongside our team as we build on the strong foundation already in place.”
It would be expected that McMenemy, who coached at Tiffin for five seasons with a 152-108 (585) record, would bring her sister along with her to Ohio University as well.
In her bio on the Tiffin University coaching staff page, it notes:
“The Dragons had a record-setting year in 2025. Tiffin’s 43-14 record set a new school Division II victory mark. The team was ranked 17th in the nation and won the G-MAC regular season championship. Nationally the Dragons were 5th in shutouts, 10th in ERA, 13th in hits, 14th in doubles, 16th in RBI, 17th in W-L percentage, 18th in team strikeouts per 7 innings, 19th in WHIP, 21st in triples, 22nd in runs, 24th in scoring, and 24th in batting average. In the G-MAC, TU led in batting average, doubles, ERA, hits, home runs, on-base percentage, RBI, scoring, shutouts, slugging percentage, runs, team strikeouts per 7 innings, triples, and W-L percentage.”

A native of Westerville, Ohio, McMenemy is a 2018 graduate of Ashland University and split her collegiate playing career between Mid-American Conference member Akron and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Ashland.
Prior to entering the college coaching world, the Ohio native had a combined six years of private pitching and hitting instruction and was also head travel softball coach for five years with the Bo Jackson Elite travel softball team out of Hilliard, Ohio.
