The Telegram platform has unveiled its latest large-scale update aimed at significantly enhancing user experience. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the new features include expanded text formatting for bots, the ability to assign AI-powered bots as administrators, and improved functionality for browser interactions.
With this update, bots are now capable of delivering richer, more complex content to users. They can utilize various formatting styles, including tables, blockquotes, task lists, and embedded images. Furthermore, the character limit for a single message has been increased to 32,768, with a “Show more” button activating after the first 8,000 characters to maintain interface cleanliness.
Telegram, founded by Pavel Durov in 2013, has consistently evolved from a simple messaging app into a comprehensive ecosystem. This update reflects the platform’s ongoing commitment to integrating advanced automation tools, positioning it as a key player in the global digital communication market.
Users can now appoint AI-based bots as administrators in groups. These bots are designed to process membership requests and identify or block users who violate group rules. For instance, Telegram notes that AI-bots can require new participants to pass specific tests, such as IQ assessments, before they are granted entry into a group.
The platform’s internal browser now supports “.md” (Markdown) files, displaying them in a formatted, readable layout. Additionally, users can now long-press links to open them in external browsers. On both Android and iOS devices, users can manage a “whitelist” to control how specific websites open within the Telegram browser. It is important to note that Telegram’s internal browser does not store browsing history.
The update also marks the return of Telegram applications for Wear OS and Apple Watch, allowing smartwatch users to regain direct access to the messenger from their wrists.
