NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man from Indiana who disappeared from a Nashville short-term rental while visiting Tennessee for the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, has been found safe after a two-day search, according to family members.
Trevor Lines, 28, of South Bend, Indiana, was located Saturday evening by Goodlettsville police officers sitting inside his vehicle near a skate park, family members told FOX17. Officers described Lines as confused and unable to fully recall what had happened, but otherwise safe.
Lines had been reported missing early Thursday morning after he vanished from a short-term rental on Douglas Avenue in East Nashville, where he was staying with friends before attending Bonnaroo.
According to family members, friends left the rental around 5 a.m. Thursday to search for a misplaced phone. When they returned about an hour later, Lines was gone, along with his white 2016 Lexus RX350.
His cellphone, medication and clothing were left behind.
"The car was gone as well," Kyle Smith, Lines' brother, said.
The unusual circumstances surrounding his disappearance, combined with a history of mental health concerns, prompted an urgent search effort by relatives and friends. Social media posts seeking information about Lines were shared thousands of times as concern grew over his whereabouts.
Friends reported Lines missing later Thursday morning to police, and immediately began checking with hospitals.
Family members searched both the Bonnaroo festival grounds and the East Nashville neighborhood where he had been staying.
Metro Nashville Police Department investigators later determined that license plate reader cameras detected Lines' vehicle in Mt. Juliet around 7:30 a.m. Friday and in Goodlettsville around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Police said Nashville does not currently operate license plate reader cameras, limiting investigators' ability to track the vehicle's movements within the city.
Authorities continued searching through Saturday with no confirmed sightings until shortly before 7 p.m., when Goodlettsville police found Lines inside his vehicle.
Family members said Lines' mother immediately traveled to Tennessee after receiving word that her son had been found.
Metro Nashville police had entered Lines into a national missing persons database and coordinated with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Coffee County authorities during the search.
