Vinícius Júnior scored a first-half equalizer as Brazil opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco at MetLife Stadium.
Morocco took the lead in the 21st minute when Brahim Díaz released Ismael Saibari, who lifted his finish over Alisson Becker.
Brazil responded 11 minutes later. Vinícius exchanged passes with Bruno Guimarães before beating Yassine Bounou with a right-footed shot from a difficult angle.
Neither team found a winner after halftime, leaving both sides with one point in Group C.
The result extended Brazil’s unbeaten run in World Cup opening matches to 21, although Carlo Ancelotti’s team were unable to begin their pursuit of a sixth title with a victory.

Qatar secured the first World Cup point in the country’s history after a stoppage-time own goal earned Julen Lopetegui’s side a dramatic 1-1 draw against Switzerland.
Breel Embolo converted a first-half penalty to put Switzerland ahead, but Miro Muheim turned the ball into his own net in the fourth minute of added time under pressure from Boualem Khoukhi.
Switzerland dominated possession and registered 26 attempts but failed to score a second goal.
“We had so many chances and we missed so many in front of goal,” Denis Zakaria said. “Today we paid dearly.”
Lopetegui praised Qatar’s resilience after the late equalizer.
“I was very proud about today — our mentality, the discipline they showed today,” he said. “We were a little bit lucky sometimes, but you need to believe.”

Police officers in Peru dressed as 2026 World Cup mascots while carrying out a drug raid in Lima.
Video released by police showed officers disguised as Clutch the Bald Eagle and Maple the Moose breaking through a gate before arresting a suspect. Authorities also displayed packets of white powder and a firearm recovered during the operation.
Colonel Carlos Fredy Alcántara Obregón said officers chose the costumes after learning that the suspect was a passionate soccer fan.
“We proceeded to disguise my Green Squad personnel as World Cup mascots in order to approach him without arousing suspicion and make the arrest,” he said.
Peruvian police have previously used similarly unusual disguises, including superheroes and a capybara costume, during operations.
English referee Michael Oliver will miss his first assignment of the 2026 World Cup because of a minor injury.
Oliver had been scheduled to officiate Ivory Coast against Ecuador in Philadelphia on June 14, but French referee François Letexier will take charge instead.

The 41-year-old has refereed in the Premier League since 2010 and also worked at the 2022 World Cup, including the quarterfinal between Croatia and Brazil.
