CARMEL- The sounds of love and inclusivity will ring today when Putnam County hosts its 7th annual Pride Celebration.
The event steps off at 1 p.m. at the historic Putnam County Courthouse in Carmel with a rally and march when hosts Angel Elektra and Shay D’Pines – in conjunction with Kingston’s own Unicorn Brass Band – will lead marchers from the courthouse along Route 52 to the rainbow sign at Gilead Presbyterian Church. After returning to the courthouse, attendees will hear from local clergy and speakers before heading to Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park in Kent for a celebration.
Festivities at the park begin at 2pm with a flag raising followed by entertainment and speakers including Elektra and D’Pines in addition to DJ Brittany, Stephanie “Starr” Bermudez, Sasha Renee and I.Den.t.T.
As one Putnam Pride attendee said during last year’s event: “I can’t believe this is happening in my town. We need this!”
