ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — We’ll start the day off on Sunday on a dry note before storms start to push into the region during the afternoon and set up a more active pattern.
Expect a warm and muggy night with lows back in the low-to-mid 70s. Winds will remain light through the overnight hours before picking up from the west after sunrise Sunday morning.
Sunday will start off quiet, but, by the afternoon and evening, we’ll see scattered showers and storms. Some of them could be on the stronger side with gusty winds and heavy rain. The day will still be hot in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
If you have any plans for the second half of the day, make sure to stay weather aware and take an umbrella along or have a backup. Especially from metro Atlanta and areas to the north which is under a level 2 of 5 risk for severe weather.
A front in the area could lead to a few showers and storms again on Monday. The best coverage stays south of Atlanta. If the front trends farther north, however, rain chances could go up in the Metro.
The active weather pattern continues as the front stalls in Central Georgia. Because it’s still relatively close, there could be off and on showers and storms throughout the day. Highs will make it into the upper 70s and lower 80s with mostly cloudy skies.
