The televised Lotto draw couldn’t go ahead as normal on Saturday evening, due to a power cut at TVNZ.
Lotto NZ said it will instead run the draw off-air under Audit Office scrutiny, in line with processes that it used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Fortunately, we have established and secure processes that allow us to run the draw off-air using a Random Number Generator under the scrutiny of the Audit Office, in circumstances like this,” Lotto NZ’s Head of Corporate Communications, Will Hine, said.
“This was done during the pandemic and also in 2019 when a fire at the SkyCity Convention Centre disrupted filming.”
He said Lotto will publish the official results later this evening, but this could be later than normal due to the disruption.
