US president claims his peace deal with Iran is ‘a wall to no nuclear weapon’

Donald Trump has said the peace deal with Iran is scheduled “to be signed tomorrow” in a post online, claiming the Strait of Hormuz will then be “OPEN TO ALL”.
He added that the administration’s “relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous Administrations have had”.
Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that the US and Iran have agreed to a framework for a peace deal that would end the months-long conflict in the Middle East, with a final text of the deal reached.
It had been reported that Trump is scrambling to secure a peace deal with Iran before the G7 summit with world leaders on Monday.
Iran has said a peace deal has never been closer, yet several contradictory statements have emerged in recent days, including the US president accusing Tehran officials of being “dishonourable”.
Meanwhile, Tehran announced the funeral for their late supreme leader Ali Khamenei would take place on 4 July, with a burial date set for 9 July.
Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s latest attempt to end the Iran war.
Sir Keir spoke to Mr Trump on Saturday afternoon, telling him the UK was ready to support with the peace efforts.
Mediators have said an agreement to end the conflict is close, and the president is expected to discuss plans with allies during next week’s G7 summit in France.
Britain and France have expressed interest in assisting with demining the Strait of Hormuz once the conflict is paused.
Sir Keir is likely to face questions about defence spending at the G7, after the resignation of defence secretary John Healey and armed forces minister Al Carns over the long-delayed defence investment plan (Dip).
A Downing Street spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister spoke to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, this afternoon.
“The Prime Minister expressed his support for President Trump’s efforts to bring the conflict with Iran to an end, welcoming the progress made and underlining the importance of ensuring any deal delivers a durable and lasting peace.
“The Prime Minister reiterated that the UK stands ready to support the implementation of any peace agreement and to work with international partners to ensure its success.
“Both leaders agreed that freedom of navigation must be restored to ease the economic impacts felt globally.
“They agreed to stay in close contact and looked forward to speaking at next week’s G7 summit.”
Donald Trump and mediator Pakistan said on Saturday an initial deal to end the war in the Middle East would be signed on Sunday, although Iran denied the signing would take place so soon.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the two sides had agreed on a framework for a peace deal and that `Islamabad was preparing for an electronic signing on Sunday, to be followed by technical-level talks next week.
Trump also said in a social media post that the deal with Iran was scheduled to be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil supplies which Iran has blocked, would be immediately “open to all” after it was signed.
Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned against commenting on the timing the signing.
“We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow,” state media quoted Baghaei as saying.
“The possibility of this happening in `the coming days cannot be ruled out. However, due to the hesitation of the other side, we must be cautious `in making any comments about this process.”
A US official who spoke to reporters later declined to be drawn on the timing but said: “It’s a great deal and a very strong deal.”

The funeral for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on July 4 and conclude with his burial in the northeastern city of Mashhad on July 9, state media reported on Saturday.
Khamenei, was killed in Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran in February. His death marked the end of more than three decades at the helm of the Islamic Republic.
The start of the funeral will coincide with America’s Independence Day, a major federal holiday in the United States.
The United States and Iran appear close to a deal to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz.

A senior US official on Saturday called an emerging agreement on Iran a strong deal and said that the United States would participate in de-mining of the Strait of Hormuz once the accord is sealed.
Donald Trump is expected to discuss plans to demine the Strait of Hormuz with allies during next week’s Group of Seven summit in France, a senior U.S. administration official said Saturday, as mediators said an agreement to end the war was close.
Britain and France, who are both members of the G7, have expressed interest in assisting with demining the critical waterway once the conflict is paused.
The official, who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity on ground rules set by the White House, said Trump also plans to meet on the sideline of the summit with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar and United Arab Emirates to discuss efforts to wind down the Iran war.
The summit begins Monday.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country would not be party to the agreement.
He has clashed with Trump over US demands that Israel curb military action in Lebanon to allow Washington to reach a deal with Tehran.
Araqchi said the agreement would end the war in Lebanon, implying an Israeli withdrawal from occupied areas. Israel’s defense minister said it would not withdraw.
A senior Israeli official said Israel expects to retain its freedom to act against threats.
Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araqchi said on Friday that while changes in the deal were still possible, the tentative agreement showed his country had emerged stronger from the conflict.
“Iran is the winner of the war with the U.S.,” he said on state television on Friday. Hours after those remarks, U.S. forces shot down multiple Iranian one-way attack drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the drones had posed a threat to commercial traffic. U.S. Central Command later confirmed the action and said the waterway was open.
The proposed memorandum of understanding calls for reopening the strait and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports, sources on all sides of the talks said. Negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program – Trump’s stated rationale for starting the war – would take place afterwards.
A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters on Friday that the deal met Trump’s core objectives and put negotiations “in a very, very good place”.
Draft terms described by multiple sources indicate the U.S. would begin releasing billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and waive sanctions on its oil exports, in return for Iran opening the strait.
Iran’s nuclear program would be addressed during a 60-day period of talks. The US official said the agreement would ultimately lead to the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, with its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to be destroyed and removed.
