WORCESTER — They’re here for the Super Bowl, Part 2.
The BC High lacrosse team avenged a half-decade of heartbreak by dethroning five-time defending state champion St. John’s Prep on an overtime goal by Weymouth’s Nathan Rogers in the last round, and now aim to knock off the bracket’s top seed for the state crown.
The No. 6 Eagles match up against No. 1 Lincoln-Sudbury in the Division 1 state championship game at Worcester State University on Friday, June 12 at 4:30 p.m. Follow this page for live updates from the game.
BC High (17-5) is in search of the second state title in its history. The first was captured in 2018, one year before the start of Marcus Craigwell’s tenure as head coach.
The Eagles clinched a championship-game berth in all but one season since 2021, and was halted by St. John’s Prep’s reign each time. Last year’s final, the capper of SJP’s five-year dynasty run, was decided by a stunning goal from current University of Michigan freshman Luke Kelly on the first possession of overtime at Mass. Maritime in Bourne.
L-S (17-3) is back here for the first time since 2019, when it ruled over the state and claimed three championships in four years. The program has seven titles in its history (1978, ’91, ’94, ’15, ’16, ’17, ’19).
The Eagles have won their first state title since 2018.

BC High began its tournament run by breezing past No. 27 Lexington (15-0 final) and No. 11 Natick (15-2 final) before pulling off consecutive memorable upsets over No. 3 Andover (8-7 final) on the road in the Elite Eight and St. John’s Prep at Burlington High in the semis.
Lincoln-Sudbury coasted through the first four rounds of the tournament, defeating No. 32 Leominster (19-0 final), No. 17 Wellesley (18-3 final), No. 9 Xaverian (17-8 final) and No. 4 Acton-Boxborough (17-6 final) in convincing fashion before clinching a berth in the state final.
