Allison Rodriguez, an anchor for 12 News in Phoenix, is leaving the station.
“This is kind of a moment I’ve been dreading,” Rodriguez said on Friday, June 12 at the end of “Today in AZ,” the morning show she has co-hosted with Emma Jade. “Today is my last day here at 12 News.”
Rodriguez started her career in Yuma, where she met her husband, as she noted during her goodbye on Friday.
“My work here has taken me to every corner of this state,” Rodriguez said Friday, shouting out some of the places she’s traveled for stories. “I love Arizona more than ever. It did give me my soulmate, it gave us our beautiful son, amazing lifelong friends and also a place to call home. … It’s been an incredible journey.”
Jade said, “We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated.” She also said to watch Rodriguez’s social media for an announcement of what’s next.
“I said if I was going to leave this career, that going out in this way, what I feel like is on top with the best partner here, it means everything to me,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez was vague about why she’s leaving. “For good things,” she continued. “Sometimes with family, a little bit more balance, my son being so young.”
Rodriguez started at 12 News in 2023. Earlier that year, she had left ABC15 and CW61 in Phoenix. In 2019 she left those stations to go to KTVU in Oakland, California. But she was back in Arizona in early 2020 as a co-anchor of “ABC15 Mornings on the CW61,” an expansion of “ABC15 Mornings.”
