BATAVIA — The Jamestown Tarp Skunks fell into an 8-0 hole before losing to the Batavia Muckdogs 10-6 in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Thursday at Dwyer Stadium.
Batavia (5-2) scored twice in the third and fourth innings before a four-run fifth inning gave the Muckdogs an 8-0 lead.
Jamestown (7-2) got back into the game with a six-run top of the sixth inning. Matthew Dumas led off with a single and stole second before Tito Kiefer added a single. Grant Moore then hit an RBI single and CJ Dugan singled to load the bases before Eric Weeks drew a based-loaded walk, Blake Herman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Paul Dulanto drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 8-4. After a pitching change, Joaquin Rodriguez-Costa hit a one-out, two-run single to make it 8-6. After a strikeout, Dumas singled again to load the bases, but the Muckdogs got out of the jam with a flyout.
Batavia added its final two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Tait Johnson started for the Tarp Skunks, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three in four innings. Cohen Harris got just one out, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk. Rocco Almonte didn’t allow a run while getting four outs, including a strikeout, before Joseph Santos allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two.
Glenn Brooks went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Jackson Inman went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Jeremy Ramos went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for the Muckdogs.
Weeks went 3 for 3; Dumas and Kiefer were 3 for 4; and Moore added two hits for Jamestown, which will visit Geneva for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch today before hosting Niagara at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and a doubleheader against Elmira starting at 4 p.m. Sunday at Diethrick Park.
