CORRALES
CORRALES — Corrales has not received any nominations for the District 4 seat left vacant in the wake of John Alsobrook’s death.
“It’s been recommended that we open up the application process another week and perhaps have a nomination next meeting,” Mayor Fred Hashimoto said.
The village attorney recommended the item be postponed until the council can get the seat nominations. Administrator Melanie Romero said that state statute requires municipalities to keep the vacancy on the agenda each meeting until a decision is reached to fill the position.
Historically, the village has struggled to get new applicants for the council seats with incumbents being unopposed in recent elections. Alsobrook was unopposed in the November 2025 election, receiving 467 votes.
Councilors voted unanimously to postpone the item again.
That person will serve until the next general municipal election in November 2027, when the position will be on the ballot for a two-year term, maintaining the current four-year cycle for councilors and mayor.
Applicants are required to be a registered voter and live in the district.
Councilors recommended digital and road signs with the link to the application. Additionally, the village administrator is working on spreading the word via email blast. Residents are encouraged to check their spam folders.
Applicants are instructed to email completed forms to Village Clerk Mandy Wolf at mwolf@corrales-nm.org or drop it off at the administration office front desk at 4324 Corrales Road before 5 p.m. To apply, visit the link or visit corrles-nm.org.
