New Delhi, June 10: The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, today conducted an inspection of the New Sikkim House in New Delhi and reviewed plans for the redevelopment and renovation of key government properties serving the people of Sikkim in the national capital.

Constructed in 1988, the New Sikkim House has been serving the State for nearly four decades. Recognizing the need to upgrade the facility to meet present-day requirements, the Chief Minister proposed a comprehensive redevelopment plan featuring additional accommodation, adequate parking facilities, modern amenities, and enhanced infrastructure to provide greater comfort and convenience to visitors from Sikkim.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also reviewed the proposed restoration of the Old Sikkim House and emphasized that the renovation must be undertaken with utmost care to preserve its heritage value, architectural character, and cultural identity while seamlessly integrating modern facilities.

Plans for the renovation and upgradation of Sewa Bhawan, X-13 in Hauz Khas, and DKK Bhawan were also discussed as part of the Government’s broader initiative to strengthen and modernize its infrastructure in New Delhi.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister held a meeting with the Minister for Buildings and Housing, Bhim Hang Limboo, along with senior departmental officials, to deliberate on the proposed projects and chart a roadmap for their timely and efficient execution.
