Apple unveiled an advanced version of its smart assistant Siri, powered by artificial intelligence, at the WWDC 2026 developers conference. The update comes two years after promises to match competitors, and will be available for Apple devices in a beta version by the end of the year.
The new update transforms Siri from a traditional voice assistant into an intelligent personal partner capable of understanding context and interacting flexibly, similar to chat applications like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
This version also supports a standalone Siri app, along with deeper integration of the assistant into the system and the Dynamic Island interface on modern iPhones. When Siri is activated, a new interactive animation appears instead of the usual light on the side of the device.
The new version can gather real-time information from the internet alongside device data to provide accurate answers to commands and questions. For example, when a user searches for something, the results appear in clear text cards containing data from the web or even content from emails and texts on the device.
Another new feature is “Write with Siri,” which allows users to request help composing emails and texts, with the writing style customized to suit the nature of communication with each contact. If you usually send direct messages to your manager, you will find the same tone in the messages Siri writes on your behalf.
Users can also interact with Siri by swiping down from the Dynamic Island to search or start a text conversation, in addition to asking detailed voice questions using the side button.

The new assistant is powered by an enhanced voice that can mimic speech patterns, speaking speed, and even emotional expression. It also improves the dictation system’s accuracy in transcribing words and automatically recording punctuation.
Siri can now handle complex tasks such as creating detailed plans, organizing brainstorming sessions, reviewing documents and providing feedback, and even anticipating user needs by leveraging system graphics, the calendar, and contacts.
On macOS, the Siri tool will be integrated into Spotlight, enabling searches for answers and information from anywhere in the system. watchOS users can also ask questions and execute commands directly from the smartwatch with ease.
The launch of Siri AI is a significant step that elevates the voice assistant to keep pace with competition in the AI market, positioning Apple more strongly in the race to develop integrated intelligent digital experiences.
