Tesla to release most advanced version of its FSD Supervised in Australia – The Driven

Tesla last year launched the first version of its full self-driving (FSD) supervised software in the Australian market for select hardware-equipped vehicles. That was under version 13 of the software stack.
Now, the company has hinted that FSD Supervised version 14, its best and most adversion so far, could be on its way according to an email to Australian customers.
This was first shared by Vincent L on Tesla Model 3 & Y Australa Facebook group by saying: “Just received an email from Tesla Australia on FSD v14. It’s coming…—  feeling excited.”
The email reads: “FSD (Supervised) V14 for Hardware 4 vehicles is in its final stages of local development and testing. This release represents a meaningful step forward in performance and capability, and we want to ensure your experience reflects that from the moment it’s available on your vehicle.”
“While we don’t have a confirmed date to share just yet, please know that our team is actively working on development and you will be notified as soon as the update is ready to install on your vehicle.”
This is a major update for owners of Hardware 4 vehicles, which include tens of thousands of Model 3 and Model Ys across the country.
It’s also been a highly anticipated version as many current users of the software expect some big upgrades to the original version launched almost nine months ago.
On 18 September 2025, Tesla launched the FSD supervised software to all eligible cars in Australia and New Zealand, making these the first right-hand-drive markets in the world to have them.
At that time, this software was available on all new vehicles as an option at a price of $10,100, and a monthly subscription was launched later in the year and now starts at $149 per month.
This subscription offering has helped bring thousands of current owners to try FSD Supervised for the first time. However, the software isn’t currently available for older, Hardware 3-equipped cars, though it may be in the future.
Soon after launching locally, Tesla shared usage statistics showing that within a fortnight of the launch, before the subscription offering was even available, owners across Australia and New Zealand had already driven more than 1 million kilometres.
It’s worth noting that, as of last week, Tesla announced it plans to offer FSD only via a subscription. This means that the $10,100 outright purchase of the option is no longer available to new customers.
The brand’s focus is clearly on improving FSD Supervised for our market as competition in the EV sales segment intensifies, giving Tesla quite an edge over competitors who have yet to test their autonomous software in Australia.
We will try the latest software ourselves when it lands.
