Demonstration by factory employees demanding an increase in wages turned violent in Noida on Monday (April 13, 2026) as protestors set fire to vehicles and pelted stones in the Sector 62 area. The police said traffic was diverted at four locations in Noida for one hour due to the protest. Adequate police deployment has been ensured across industrial zones under the Gautam Buddh Nagar district, with senior police officials monitoring the situation. “The situation is under control and being kept under continuous surveillance. Efforts are being made to counsel the workers and maintain peace. Minimum force is being used wherever necessary to maintain law and order,” Gautam Buddh Nagar police said in a statement.

The Supreme Court on Monday (April 13, 2026) told the Election Commission that the right to be on the electoral roll and to vote in one’s own country is not only constitutional but sentimental, while referring to lakhs of voters excluded for “logical discrepancies” and lining up for appeal hearings in West Bengal, hardly 10 days ahead of the Assembly elections, following an “inquisitorial” Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The court said 34 lakh appeals by voters purged from the West Bengal electoral roll have already been filed for hearing before 19 Appellate Tribunals. The court said there were over a lakh appeals pending before each of these tribunals.

A white vehicle, adorned with the singer’s favourite white and yellow flowers and a large photograph of her sporting a traditional Maharashtrian ‘nath’ (nose pin) placed on it, carried her mortal remains from her Lower Parel residence to Shivaji Park in Dadar, about five kilometres away.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (April 13, 2026) said the Parliament is close to creating “new history” when the Women’s Reservation Act will be amended this week for its implementation in 2029. The enactment of the law will realise the visions of the past and fulfil the resolutions of the future, he said at the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ in New Delhi ahead of a three-day sitting of Parliament, where the amendments to the women’s quota law are expected to be brought for consideration and passage.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday (April 13, 2026) that Israel supports US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran, adding that his government is in full coordination with Washington on the matter. “Iran violated the rules (of the peace talks in Pakistan), President Trump decided to impose a naval blockade,” Mr. Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting, according to a video statement released by his office. “We, of course, support this firm position, and we are in constant coordination with the United States.” London’s Heathrow Airport announced on Monday (April 13, 2026) a 10% increase in transit passengers during March as the U.S.-Iran war forced Gulf countries to close their airspace.
