Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to bring his star power to Trent Bridge this summer after being selected in India’s squad for July’s IT20 against England.
It is a first full international call-up for the 15-year-old batting prodigy, and means he could play in Nottingham on Tuesday 7th July, for what is the third of a five-match battle with England.

Sooryavanshi first burst onto the scene with a breakout Under-19 Men’s World Cup in January and February this year that saw him awarded player of the tournament while still aged just 14.
The left-hander totalled 439 runs – behind only England’s Ben Mayes overall – and broke multiple six-hitting records with a stunning 80-ball 175 in the final that powered India to the trophy.
Not content with that, he went on to strike 776 runs from 16 innings at this year’s IPL – which started the day after he turned 15 – to earn the Orange Cap for the tournament’s highest run-scorer.
Sooryavanshi, who hails from Bihar – the same state as 2025 Nottinghamshire overseas signing Ishan Kishan, another inclusion in the squad – hammered 72 sixes in the 2026 IPL, a new record.
Sanju Samson and Varun Chakravarthy, respectively the player of the tournament and the joint-leading wicket-taker at the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, are both also included in the touring squad.
Elsewhere, Shreyas Iyer replaces Suryakumar Yadav as captain, with the latter, who hit a 55-ball 117 at Trent Bridge for India in 2022, dropped from the squad, while Jasprit Bumrah is also rested.
