The India AI Impact Summit 2026, held from February 16 – 21 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, was a landmark event focusing on three interlinked Sutras (themes/digital thread) “People, Planet, and Progress.” As the first Global South host, India set new benchmarks by attracting over 500,000 visitors and delegations from more than 100 countries, including over 20 heads of state and 60 ministers.
The Summit transitioned the global AI conversation from theoretical dialog to tangible, impactful actions, securing investment commitments exceeding $250 billion, including $20 billion dedicated to deep tech research. It emphasized ethical AI, inclusivity, and sustainability, while addressing operational challenges in large-scale event management.
Investments and Participation: The Summit saw record-breaking attendance and investment, with major tech CEOs from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Reliance Industries participating.
AI Readiness: The India AI Readiness Assessment Report, jointly launched by UNESCO and MeitY, assessed workforce capacity, ethical governance, and environmental sustainability, positioning India as an emerging global AI leader.
The Seven Chakras: Discussions were structured around seven central themes: human capital, inclusion, trust, resilience, science, resources, and social good, ensuring a holistic approach to AI development and deployment.
Key Discussions: Sessions focused on practical applications of AI in public service, fintech, healthcare, and agriculture, with a strong emphasis on a human-centric approach to AI, moving beyond existential risks to address real-world challenges.
The event was anchored in the principles of these three Sutras:
People: AI must serve humanity in all its diversity, preserving dignity and ensuring inclusivity.
Planet: AI innovation must align with environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Progress: The benefits of AI should be equitably shared to advance global development and prosperity.

The Summit positioned New Delhi as a central hub for global AI governance, with a declaration signed by 88 countries—the broadest participation in the series’ history. The event reinforced the importance of responsible, inclusive, and development-oriented AI, aligning with India’s national priorities and fostering international collaboration through initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission and Digital India.
Global Cooperation: The New Delhi Declaration established voluntary frameworks for AI as a tool for economic growth and social good, including the “Global AI Impact Commons” and “Trusted AI Commons” for sharing best practices and safety benchmarks.
Sovereign AI Leadership: India showcased indigenous AI capability, launching the BharatGen Param2 model and Sarvam AI’s large language models, and expanded its AI infrastructure by targeting over 38,000 GPUs (Graphics Processing Units).
Major Partnerships: Reliance and Adani committed huge investments to AI data centers; Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic formed strategic alliances with leading Indian conglomerates.
Ethical Frameworks: Prime Minister Modi introduced the MANAV framework—Moral and ethical, Accountable, National sovereignty-oriented, Accessible, and Valid—advocating a “glass box” approach for transparency in AI systems.
Healthcare: AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and disease prediction for rural and urban populations.
Agriculture: Precision farming, weather forecasting, and market analysis to boost productivity and resilience.
Education: Personalized learning and language translation, bridging educational and linguistic divides.
Finance: Improved fraud detection, credit access, and customer service using AI-driven solutions.
Governance: Smart city management, legal translation, and streamlined public services to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Regional conferences identified local AI needs, shaping the Summit agenda.
Flagship global challenges such as AI for ALL, AI by HER, and YUVAi promoted scalable, inclusive solutions, attracting over 4,650 applications from 60+ countries.
The India AI Impact Expo showcased AI solutions across sectors, while the Tinkerpreneur bootcamp fostered early-stage innovation among students.
Key government bodies like MeitY, IndiaAI Mission, and Digital India coordinated efforts to strengthen governance, workforce skills, and AI awareness.
Expected outcomes include enhanced policy coherence, increased AI deployment, and positioning India as a global hub for responsible AI innovation.
