Zeekr has begun rolling out the first over-the-air software update for its 7X electric SUV in Australia, adding new remote parking, digital key and connectivity features for owners.
The update is being pushed to all Zeekr 7X vehicles across Australia and is designed to add new functionality without owners needing to visit a dealer or wait for a new model-year update.
The most notable addition is Remote Smart Parking Assist with a new straight-line function, allowing owners to remotely move the vehicle forwards or backwards using an Apple smartphone.
Zeekr says the feature is intended to make it easier to get the 7X in and out of tight garages, narrow parking spaces or awkward driveways, particularly where there may not be enough room to comfortably open the doors.
The update also introduces Apple-only CCC 3.0 digital key functionality, allowing owners to unlock and access the vehicle with a compatible smartphone rather than relying on a physical key.
Inside the car, Zeekr says the update brings more refined alert tones, including changes to turn signal sounds and vehicle notifications, with the aim is to improve clarity while making in-cabin alerts less intrusive.
Apple CarPlay has also been updated, promising smoother performance and improved usability across navigation, communication and entertainment functions.
Frank Li, managing director of Zeekr Australia, said the update showed how software-defined electric vehicles could continue to improve after delivery.
“This update is exactly what modern electric ownership should deliver,” Li said.
“Our 7X customers are gaining new features that make their vehicle even smarter, easier to live with and more enjoyable to drive. It reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and delivering real benefits over time.”
The OTA rollout is an important early test for Zeekr in Australia, where the Geely-owned premium EV brand is looking to further establish itself, with the 7X having already sold almost 4,000 units since its Australian launch in August 2025.
OTA updates are not new to EVs, but they are becoming more common as vehicles become more software-defined, and as buyers grow more accustomed to the idea that a car can be improved after delivery.
Zeekr says all 7X owners in Australia will receive the update automatically, with installation handled through the vehicle’s own interface.
