In a dining landscape crowded with Pan-Asian restaurants, YouMee has built a personality that feels instantly recognisable.Part of the Lite Bite Foods portfolio – the hospitality group behind brands such as Punjab Grill, YouMee has steadily expanded its footprint across India, appealing to a generation of diners who seek experiences that go beyond the plate. Its blend of Asian comfort food, manga-inspired storytelling and vibrant interiors has helped the brand cultivate a loyal following in cities across the country.
At the Nexus Mall outlet in Kukatpally, Hyderabad that identity is evident. The space truly is a visual nod to contemporary Asian pop culture, with colourful manga illustrations, neon signage, Korean-inspired graphics, and suspended oriental umbrellas that create a lively atmosphere. Unlike the muted elegance often associated with Asian fine dining, YouMee embraces a more playful aesthetic. The result is a space that feels energetic, youthful and distinctly Gen Z, yet comfortable enough for a leisurely meal.
The food, lives up to the visual appeal. We began with the Cheese Spring Rolls and Sichuan Crispy Chicken, both familiar crowd-pleasers that arrived crisp. A highlight from the sushi section was the Prawn Tempura Roll. The contrast between the crunchy tempura prawn and the soft, seasoned rice worked beautifully, making it one of the most enjoyable dishes of the evening.
The dim sum selection showcased the kitchen’s versatility. The Chilli Coriander Chicken Dumplings offered robust flavours, while the Edamame Black Mushroom Dumplings brought a lighter, earthier balance to the table. The New York Cheese Chilli Oil Dumplings added an indulgent touch, pairing creamy richness with a gentle kick of spice.
A comforting bowl of Miso Shiru set the stage for the mains. On the other hand, the YouMee Signature Ramen delivered exactly what one expects from a good ramen bowl – a rich broth, springy noodles and layers of flavour that gradually unfolded with each spoonful.
Among the larger plates, the Chilli Black Bean Fish stood out for its delicate texture and punchy sauce. Equally satisfying was the Sticky Chicken Fried Rice, a hearty dish that balanced savoury flavours with comforting familiarity. From the ongoing Manga Matsuri menu, the YouMee Chef’s Special Chicken impressed with its smoky wok-tossed notes, while the Steamed Sea Bass was elegant in its simplicity, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine through, served in a soya-based sauce.
Dessert came in the form of Mango Sticky Rice along with coconut milk, a classic that remains hard to resist when done right. The sweet mango paired beautifully with the creamy sticky rice, bringing the meal to a satisfying close. Complementing it were three mango-based beverages; Mango Chia Delight, Spicy Mango and Mango Mania, each offering a refreshing take on the season’s favourite fruit.
What we enjoyed the most during the meal was how naturally the restaurant’s playful personality translated onto the plate. The Prawn Tempura Roll, flavourful dim sums, comforting ramen and delicately prepared sea bass each brought something different to the table, creating a meal that felt varied without losing focus. Combined with the lively interiors and easy-going atmosphere, YouMee offers the kind of dining experience that encourages guests to linger a little longer.
