Director David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) is back this summer with The End of Oak Street, a mystery box genre movie that’s arriving in theaters August 14 via Warner Bros.
Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor come face-to-face with a monstrous threat in the sci-fi thriller from producer J.J. Abrams, and in case it wasn’t already clear based on the trailer that was recently released, The End of Oak Street is absolutely a DINOSAUR MOVIE.
A handful of new sneak peek images were debuted by Entertainment Weekly this morning, and one of them in particular clearly shows a dinosaur rampaging through suburbia.
“A few years ago, I was walking through our neighborhood in Michigan, just walking down the street, and I was passing by this garage [with a] chain link fence and garbage cans,” director David Robert Mitchell tells Entertainment Weekly. “And I was struck by the image of, like, ‘It’d be really interesting if there was a dinosaur right there.’”
“Just like anybody, the first Jurassic Park movie, I absolutely love,” David Robert Mitchell goes on to explain to Entertainment Weekly. “But for me, my language of dinosaur movies goes back much further. I’d be lying if I say that [Jurassic Park] isn’t a movie that I absolutely love because I do. But I wanted to do something different.”
In the film, “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”
The End of Oak Street is set in the early 1980s, we’ve also learned this week.
J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella produce the upcoming film via Bad Robot.

The box office is being dominated this weekend by Kane Parsons and A24’s Backrooms, and Scary Movie has already responded with a new trailer poking fun at the liminal nightmare.
Watch the official Backrooms spoof trailer for Scary Movie below, which kicks off with a humorous little parody of the horror movie taking the world by storm this weekend.
And don’t forget to play around with Subservient GhostFake this weekend!
Arriving in theaters June 5, 2026, Scary Movie has been Rated ‘R’ for “crude sexual content, graphic nudity, strong violence, and drug content and language throughout.”
Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite for the new Scary Movie, with the cast also including Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Jon Abrahams, Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and Felissa Rose.
Scary Movie will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t. A whole lot has changed in the horror genre since the Wayans Brothers were in charge of the franchise; their involvement ended with Scary Movie 2 back in 2001!
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs Scary Movie 6 from a script written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
