The Texas State Bobcats will take the field against the No. 11-ranked team in the nation, the Texas A&M Aggies, in Game 3 of the College Station Regional in the College World Series on Saturday evening at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas. After finishing the season with a 40-14 record overall and losing in their first game of the SEC Conference Tournament to Auburn, the Aggies looked to snap back into their dominance in their hosted regional with a win over Lamar in the opening game on Friday. In that first game, Clayton Freshcorn was credited with the win in relief work, pitching the final two innings and allowing zero earned runs on no hits with one strikeout. Gavin Grahovac and Chris Hacopian were both dynamic at the plate for Texas A&M; both homered, while Hacopian had three RBIs as well.

The Bobcats, who are 37-24 overall this season, ended the Sun Belt Tournament with back-to-back losses in the championship game against Louisiana. In an effort to get back into a winning streak, Texas State took down USC in Game 2 of the College Station Regional on Friday. Wade Cooper won his seventh game of the season in a 5-4 victory. He gave up one earned run over the final three innings with five strikeouts. At the plate, it was Chase Mora and Brady Boles who took Texas State to the win. Each of them homered, combining for five RBIs and all the runs for Texas State.
The winner of this game will head to the championship game of the College Station Regional. At the same time, the loser will go to the elimination bracket to face the winner of USC and Lamar for a chance to go to the championship game from the losers’ bracket. The winner of the championship game will head to the NCAA Super Regionals next week.
